DouglasE

Douglas is somewhat of an oddball in the photography world; he has no academic or related qualifications, has no formal training and has learned his craft by watching, listening and experimenting. Born in 1969 Douglas wasted the first part of his academic life studying hard, becoming head boy and generally exceeding in most fields – then, somewhere around 1983 his voice broke, he stopped wearing flares, and the world took on a different colour.
Fresh out of School Douglas headed for an Engineering Career with a well know Motor Company, two years into his apprenticeship a complete change of direction found him working (and studying!) in the computer and telecommunications arena. Sixteen years on and sitting a good way up the corporate ladder Douglas took the decision to take his passion for creating images and turn it into a lifestyle, walking away from corporate telecommunications, monthly wages and bonus schemes.
With only one suit to his name, an armoury of camera equipment, a Yamaha and a sense of humour Douglas now creates images that portray his view of sex and sexuality in both the female and male form.
Douglas’s work, under the banner of Alternative-Image can already be found hanging on walls in a diverse range of homes – bankers, dancers; prison wardens all find eroticism in his work.
