Derek has been drawing the female figure for most of his life - and has increasingly concentrated on that subject over last fifteen years.He lives in the Scottish Borders and has been lucky, in such an empty area, to have found several wonderful local models.

He is interested in the chemistry between model and artist and has striven to reflect this sensuality into the marks he has used to create the work. He has always searched for ways of making the surface of the work reflect the natural sensuality of the subject.
