Mary Webster

I am self-taught and began my art pathway just before my teens during which I was a ferociously pony mad individual and lovingly drew the ponies in pen and ink, then slowly introduced colour; a gradual progression in my art work followed which generally focused on highly intricate interplaying patterns of objects, bodies, food. Art remained a very important part of my life throughout my professional nursing career and I always aspired to devoting myself full time to it. With this in mind I have gradually allowed myself to concentrate more time upon my artwork and now practice nursing part time in order to pursue my love of creating the visions I feel compelled to draw.

Some people have found my images disturbing as my artwork has often contained erotic and sadistic undertones, though I only began producing obviously erotic art during 2008. I always paint better in the dark winter months whilst classical music in the background triggers my inspirations and there is little temptation from the garden to draw me out.

For me the erect male organ accords with pleasure, strength and power. My attraction to distinct parts of the human body has always existed and is almost always shown freshly cut or torn and surrounded by sensual touches of frothy lace and edible things. My artistic pathway into erotic art seems to have been through natural progression and imaginative discovery and continues to marry the slightly bizarre and uncomfortable with the delicate beauty of living plants.
