Gilberto Giardini

The Polish/ Italian artist Gilberto Giardini was born in 1964 in Warsaw and grew up in Italy and Germany. He studied Set and Costume Design and Art History at Rome’s “Accademia di Belle Arti”, where he graduated, with distinction, in 1989. Since that time Gilberto has worked extensively as a set and costume designer throughout Europe and as an illustrator in advertising. His paintings and collages have appeared in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and Switzerland and many are now part of private collections.
Always evident throughout Gilberto’s work is his feeling for stage and theatrical expression in clothing and human form. This distinctive quality manifests particularly in his erotic art, where he utilizes a wide variety of traditional and digital techniques to encompass his style. At times sporadic black lines and little colour are all he needs to visualize the human form.
Another very important aspect of Gilberto’s work is humour. This is constantly present - be it in the way he draws and exaggerates people's bodies, his atypical settings or the witty titles he gives his work.
In 2008 Gilberto’s work was published in “ The World’s Greatest Erotic Art Volume 2”. As one of the winners of the Erotic Signature Art Competition, it is also part of an exhibition touring the United States, Europe and the UK.
