Birgitte Evelyn

Birgitte-Evelyn is a self-taught artist. She is born in 1968.
As a former elite practitioner of the very body-conscious sports; bodybuilding and fitness training, it has come natural to her to maintain her fascination with the human body and its powerful magnetism.
This fascination now manifests itself in her paintings. The paintings can be characterized as having a form of modern, figurative motifs and all oil on canvas. Fascinated and inspired by relations between women and men, and erotic seen from the perspective of a woman, Birgitte Evelyn’s paintings cover a wide range of multifaceted sensual and erotic themes.
Based on female life in a general sense with its multitude of roles for the modern woman; wife, mother, career woman etc., Birgitte-Evelyn strives to artistically rediscover, preserve and depict a woman’s own desire to be a woman in all her sensual aspects.
Frequently Birgitte Evelyn makes use of models, and from time to time, she brings her models to a studio to test her rough sketches and ideas, but she also provides inspiration from accomplished photographers work.
Her paintings have the ability to influence the spectator and some may experience the entire chain of emotions, depending on whose glasses you look through. They call to mind thoughts and feelings of love, intimacy, passion, rawness, irony and indignation with a touch of humour.
You get a sensation that Birgitte Evelyn in her oil paintings strives to raise the erotic to a higher level and in other of her paintings you are confronted with a crudeness and different reality, that in some sense reflects our present time.
It’s exactly this spectrum of feelings that are the key drivers in Birgitte Evelyn’s passion for painting. She has created her own unique artistic form of expression and maybe her art work gives a peek into women’s emotional thoughts.
